O.P.C.-100tm is recommended in addition to the Basic Protocol when there is significant evidence for poor circulation in the retina such as edema or swelling, or leakage and bleeding. These conditions can be found in advanced stages of Retinitis Pigmentosa, ARMD and Stargardt Disease, as well as in the condition called cystoid macular edema. Used after surgical procedures to the eye such as cataract surgery, laser surgery or radiation treatments. Negative effects on the retina can be seen following other procedures which cause stress to the body as a whole such as hip replacement or significant medical illness. If you have had recent bleeding, have diabetic retinopathy, have extreme sensitivity to glare, or have evidence of inflammation in the retina, this product is strongly recommended.

O.P.C.’s are water-soluble and brands that contain magnesium stearate or other similar additives are not recommended. The Thorne product that we recommend is a pure formulation derived from grade seed extracts with a very high level of biological activity and at a reasonable price compared with other brands on the market. (Pine Bark Extract is a newer product for us. Its bioactivity is not quite as strong, and the dose may need to be increased. Consult with Dr. Miller.)
